I chose to interview my mom to see how I behaved as a child and to see what my interests were.
Me: Mom, how was I as a child?
Mom: Curious, inquisitive, and you loved anything to do with nature.
Me: What did I like to do as a child?
Mom: You liked me to read books to you, you liked to play in your papaw’s garage with tools, and you liked to take things apart, and build things with wood and nails.
Me: What was my favorite story?
Mom: Your favorite story was the very hungry caterpillar, you had it memorized by the time you were three.
Me: Was there anywhere that I liked to go as a child?
Mom: Your favorite place to go was Memaw and Papaw’s (my great grandparents), and you also loved to go to the beach.
Me: What were some of my favorite foods?
Mom: You liked to eat fried hot dogs, chicken legs, boiled potatoes, and macaroni and cheese.
Me: What was my behavior like?
Mom: You were very well behaved, you were calm, you liked to sit and play by yourself, and you had a very good imagination. Even if you didn’t have toys, you could sit and play. You liked to draw.
Me: What were some of my favorite toys?
Mom: You liked miniature tanks, bugs, creatures of all kinds. Also you love stuffed snakes.
Me: What did I want to be when I grew up?
Mom: At first you wanted to be a train engineer, then you wanted to be a herpetologist and study reptiles.
Mom: and your favorite word was “actually, …”
Even in my childhood, I was interested by all sorts of nature and the outdoors. Which still is reflected in me today, because I want to study the environment and become an attorney who protects it.
